This year i have approx 50 pigeons to winter over, because i didn't race young birds this summer, i don't kill pigeons as a rule, but last year my young bird team was depleted with young bird sickness and hawk attacks, its hard to calculate how many bird will be left after the racing season has finished, i am more interested in the channel races, so it takes three years for these pigeons to mature and compete in these tough races, hence i like to keep about 25 pigeons

Depending on the weather and food supply, Pigeons will breed all year long, hence the need to adjust the amount of feed and restrict the amount of daylight in the loft.

Hi Jack... Last year 2010 I had 100 pigeons but my team got sickness like newcastle so I couldn´t participate in the pigeons season. At least, they participated in Northwest Championship 2011. From the begining, I have left 40 birds in training and at least, at the first contest; 120 kms. I had 60 pigeons. The Campionship finished in Chihuahua, Chi. 920 kms. to Guadalajara my homeland but my team only flies from Escalón, Chihuahua with 10 birds, and We got the first place.

Great film jack cracking little loft i used to help out in the premier pigeon club off pearse st years back always loved pigeon racing used to help gerry byrne from ringsend RIp down at his loft every saturday he won penzance a few times, cant wait till i get a garden big enough to build my own loft its a dying sport, its sad because its probably 1 of the best sports a person can participate in
