Oh, I see that he's just facing a wall, not gazing out the nest. Whatever. I'll stick with my reading of this little conflict.

8:39 PM. I wonder whether the night has turned deeply dark yet. His impassively gaze out of the nest reminds me of when Frida was begging Diego to go hunting, already, while Diego clearly wanted it to get darker before he left.
So, Isoph, I posit that she's imploring him to begin his hunt (perhaps because she's freaking hungry), and he's taking the view that if he gets picked off by a hawk or a GHO, then she'll *really* have a problem ...

She's acting more like she's hungry than breedy. See how she's going through the pellets on the floor and seeing if there's anything edible? Her vocalization also says, "I'm hungry", not "I wanna mate". She looks to him and under him to see if he has any food. She will beg from him when she's hungry. Is it just before time to hunt? I don't see this as a breeding behavior at all. -Stacey O'Brien (author Wesley the Owl)
