Have you got more recent versions of these videos with better sound? That high-pitched buzzing makes these painful to watch, yet they're some of the more informative roller skiiing videos available.

Imagine if they had these with a swivled wheels in the middle like a freeboard!!! It would be amazing and just like real skiing someone please invent real roller skis
-
Although its not like real skiing which I have done since I was 3 or 4 it still helps your technique

In classic roller skis, do the wheels have any type of ratcheting system in them so you can kick?

@diddymuck When I go roller skiing I usually average around 16 km/h. Top speed depends on the route, but typically in the range between 40 and 50 km/h.
Roller skiing is great fun and good training - try it!

@diddymuck I skate to work with rollerblades but they are quick release blades and then you can walk in the boots that come with it. I use telescopic poles too so it isn't much to carry. I won't mention any brands but you can Google and find quick release rollerblades. It works for me.
Thanks for the note....I will see what I can do.

HI: Yes they do. The wheels usually only roll one way.

how fast can one go, tops? is this a practical to-work-and-back form of transportation?

@diddymuck
You can go quite fast on the downhills....then it can be dangerous. As a form of transportation you have quite a few extras to bring...roller skis, poles, boots. Otherwise you could use it.

Looks to me like you lean too much forward/stoop to o much. A straighter posture, looking forward instead of down, will make it easier putting more energy into your strides without loosing balance. Easier to increase speed, and a more powerful kick! It will also be more lika snow skiiing, where you need more force downwards in order to grip the snow

HI: Thanks for the note, however note that most skiers stand too upright when they diagonal stride since they have poor balance. I have had good luck getting people to think about more forward lean when striding so they can balance abit longer and hence glide on their skis. Remember much of what I present are drills which are designed to problems.
