Very impressive aircraft and my favorite bird of all passenger flights I've ever had. Mine happend to be by Wynair in the Carribean on an off a couple of islands....short runways were all this plane requires, via lots of twin power.

this is the danger one...

Full flap take off in a Twin Otter...not the best of ideas.

This is the Twin Otter "Helicopter takeoff" stunt, which makes true airline pilots cringe.
Notice the full-up elevator when power is applied to avoid a "wheelbarrow" liftoff.
This type of takeoff is definitely not in the DeHavilland book: Full flaps and liftoff way below Vmc. The trick is to fly no higher than you care to fall until you reach Vmc - THEN you can start climbing and retracting the flaps.
The ground run is on the runway, the rest of the takeoff is done at 2-3 feet AGL.
