The best harpsichord concerto Bach never wrote.
-
I thought that too, but my appreciation for it has grown.
I love this interpretation.

Thanks for sharing! I have the Bob van Asperen recording, which is similar to this one, and while I do like the straight-up cantata version, I appreciate that a couple of folks out there have completed reconstructions of BWV 1059 incorporating the fragment we do have with those 32nd-note runs--and syncopations! Now if only someone would PUBLISH this...I'm surprised Barenreiter hasn't done so already. Been thinking about arranging this myself for years.

....... О Бах!.. . . .Мы Возродим Культуру!... Ты с Нами!

@Vesivian This is from Cantata BWV 35 as Bach only wrote 9 bars of this concerto.
-
@Vesivian Yes, Bach only wrote the first 9 bars and then... Well... it is no longer Bach!
Wrong score--this is from the organ version, the sinfonia to Cantata BWV 35. BWV 1059 is what's playing, and the repeated note motive is transformed into runs.

Allegro(1st mov) - Concerto in D Minor BWV 1059R ("R" stands for reconstructed) for harpsichord by Johann Sebastian Bach. This piece is based on cantata BWV 35.
Music Score from BWV35 is shown. Greetings

@bussinez Actually, BWV 1059 is playing--including the first seven or eight bars, including the characteristic runs in place of the broken arpeggios of BWV 35/I.
