The animation shows the polyvinyl alcohol oligomer, 1,3,5,7-heptanetetrol, hydrogen bound to the (001) basal plane of an ice crystal for 50 picoseconds after heating to a temperature of 250 Kelvins for 20 picoseconds. The oxygen atoms of the ice are colored green for clarity. Animation is by HyperChem Professional 5.1 molecular dynamics simulation.
