  • Wow, Awesome. Who is paying for this?

  • River Haven is a program of the Turning Point Foundation in Ventura CA. The residents pay a monthly fee for the shelter and TPF program services. TPF raised funds from the community to purchase the shelters. World Shelters provided the U-Domes at our cost, which is our policy in supporting humanitarian shelter initiatives. - WS is a 501c3 non-profit and int'l NGO. - See our web site for World Shelters' statement on financially self-sustaining transitional shelter programming.

  • You restore my faith in human decency. I am deeply humbled.

If I may ask a few questions:

    Whose land?

    What permits were needed?

    Who 'owns' the structures?

    Are they water-proof?

    Are they wind-proof?

    Thanks again.

  • In reply to your questions:

    - city of Ventura land and permits

    - U-Domes and platforms owned by Turning Point Foundation

    - Yes the U-Domes are weatherproof - water, wind, some snow (shelters are also fire retardant)

  • FEMA makes a $10k solution, artists make a

$1k solution, & a properly made tent can be $50

since yuppies "imagine" cheaper housing = lower property values

start a petition & VOTE in a new law to decriminalize homelessness

& grant the RIGHT to pay the city a small fee to camp LEGALLY

  • Fantastic! It's wonderful see dreams coming true.

  • way to go! that's so cool to see it all happening in one day like that. congratulations!

  • Let's hope this is just one more step toward the beginning of a giant trend to build portable villages where ever and when ever they are needed!
