The SG was originally a redesign of the Les Paul. the original shape was not doing that well at the time, and was discontinued in 1960/61, with the "SG" shape introduced as a new Les Paul, in the hope it would be more popular, without asking Les first. Then the discontinued models were becoming popular again due to the likes of Jimmy page and Eric Clapton using them, and prices on old ones started to go up. So due to demand, Gibson brought the old LP shape back again in 1968

its probly a really old SG, from before they were called SGs. They were originally called Les Pauls for a while, b4 the guy Les Paul caught on to what they were doing and told gibson to change the name
