  • A real Lama will always use the most skillful means to benefit the students. Sometimes it could be giving gifts, being jovial and fun. For some students that would include wrathful methods, nagging, scolding and other fierce methods. It is the same and the intention is to benefit you despite how it may look like.

  • Rinpoche is so honest of his intention, he leaves nothing to the imagination so we don't have some kind of rosy picture in our head. In that way, he is very disarming and he is a real Lama!

  • @dtseringdorje Reading your comment I'm reminded of the film, "Kundun." The Chinese communist general asks the Prime Minister of Tibet how much tea he drinks. He's being a jerk, of course. So the Prime Minister responds, "That depends upon the quaility, and THAT IT COMES FROM INDIA!" In other words, Chinese tea leaves much to desired. As for practicing Buddhism, it depends upon the quality, and THAT IT COMES FROM INDIA. Meditate upon this koan. And you know what you can do with your big stick.

  • @dtseringdorje Complacency does have it's hidden dangers. Lack of awareness is definitely one of them. Some form of suffering will jolt us back to the reality of samsara. Here's a recent quote from Rinpoche which may apply :- " I was hanging around on the beach having a great time when this dude named Buddha showed up and said I was suffering." hehe..always makes me laugh.

  • @dtseringdorje You sound like you have a experience with gurus :) nice. Or lots of zen meditations where they whack you with a big stick :) either way good to meet u on youtube.

  • Dear Tsem Lama goes berserk! Beautiful Dharma speach! Good! Very Good! But I have to hit you, big stick! Where are you? Where are these people sitting? Why to be unaware of reality around you? What are you? Why not aware of your own ass? Do you feel pain in your butt during sitting meditations? This pain is what? Why not to awake with a bit less speech and more still mind? This pain is all you need to experience to awake and start living better life, less confusion, more clear mind awareness.

  • @millagems Wonderful, I pray you have the same pure view as your teachers :)

  • Great! Every single teaching is perfect Rinpoche-La...

  • What he's speaking about is not limited to just Buddhists. The subtle self-cherishing mind still at play must be checked. We students must always check-up on our motives! Are they self-cherishing and ego based, even subtly? Wonderful teaching here.

  • @redlatties Yes, that is correct, and what I've been taught when it comes to guru devotion and discipleship. It's the student's sincerity that will allow them to do so in this case.

  • That is so funny! Rinpoche is going to drop all his pretenses of his fake compassion of a Lama! This is really honest of this Lama and he is trying to say that when we are pushed to the corner do we reveal our true nature and intentions. Real people's intentions remain the same under duress.
