Three dumb guys who think they're smart rob a Mob protected card game, causing the local criminal economy to collapse. Brad Pitt plays the enforcer hired to track them down and restore order. Killing Them Softly also features Richard Jenkins, James Gandolfini, Ray Liotta, Scoot McNairy, Ben Mendelsohn, and Vincent Curatola. Max Casella, Trevor Long, Slaine and Sam Shepard also make appearances. -- (C) Weinstein

I thought this was a great film.
Yeah, the allegory was too on-the-nose and often clumsy, but it was still an interesting premise, and the acting was top-notch.

Haha wow... These two miss the point of the film. "So thugs listen to NPR in their cars?" Yes they do, not ridiculous at all... To assume all criminals are dumb or don't care about currrent events is just ignorant on their part, clearly they know nothing of that world. All so called "thugs" care about is money, of course they would be interested in the condition of the economy. And the cinematography was gorgeous.

First off, the film is meant to be not subtle. It is an angry film and he doesn't want it to be subtext he wants it to be context. Secondly, the rain scene and killing Ray Liotta in slow-mo (fuck you if you haven't seen the movie or can't tell from the trailer) is done that way because it is supposed to be beautiful and representative of how Brad Pitt likes to kill people-from a distance and "softly". It's the fucking title of the movie. These people really missed the point.More to say.no room

This movie was so utterly bland that I totally forgot I saw it three weeks ago. It starts out really promising, had some interesting dialogue, characters. It felt like it was trying to be something, but never quite got there, never had the legs. The best thing about it was the cinematography; it was always pretty to look at at least.

I like slow paced movies but I don't know, there was something missing in the movie at least to me. I'm not saying it's a bad movie, it isn't, but I thought it could've been much more interesting. But like you said, maybe it didn't work for me as it worked for you.

well this comes down to a difference of opinion. I found the story engaging, the themes provocative, and the pacing was at least adequate. You can think what you want. It worked for me.

the difference was that its story was actually engaging and interesting and the pacing was well done. the plot here is as dull as it can get and there's nothing interesting to go for except for the great acting and a couple of good scenes..
