Here are some arcs from a high voltage high power flyback transformer that I found at a TV junk.

  • What sort of input voltage are you using for that? o.o

    Looks damn powerful :3

I've been on the hunt for some decent flybacks for a while

  • hi Satanzorz, input voltage is rectified mains (320V). The driver uses a MOSFET halfbridge.

  • This type of high power flybacks is very rare to find nowadays, but I was lucky enough to find one in an old TV. In the video it is running at about 250Watts, but now I have removed some turns from the primary winding so it now runs at about 300W, with no overheating.

  • got your self a 15000 volt 30 ma nst! good job for a flyback i like the 50-60 Hz hum

  • Well the best thing you can do is to wind your own on the exposed core. The internal windings will sometimes work but external are much better.

  • LOOK FOR GREEN DOT! when you harvest a fly back look for the green dot. Means the windings are comercial grade. Good place to get huge fly back is one those huge projection tvs lol ez 40kv~

  • HOLY CRAP! :-o I'm almost tempted to accuse you of cheating and using a microwave oven transformer, except there's no 60 Hz buzz. Awesome!!
