  • It must have taken a lot of courage to do this and I applaud you for it. I am an exmormon and an atheist and it was difficult for my family because for them I had lost my faith. However, I haven't gotten up the courage to come out to my family yet but you give me hope. Thank you.

  • @kkharris5 Thank you for your kind words. This talk was very affirming for me. It was also affirming when I told my children one-on-one that I was bisexual and told my siblings. It still took me about a year to get the courage to tell my dad though, I so didn't want to hurt him (he was and is a major homophobe). But it worked out. And he loves me. He doesn't understand 'it', but he DOES understand that he loves me and so he supports me and it hasn't hurt us. Hoping for the best for you! ~ Tonya

  • I am LDS. I am female and madly in love with a woman. She has known for years that this is because we are twin flames. I found out that we had actually been married in past lives when we were opposite genders. I've had a temple marriage and she has a male partner. She does not want to take our relationship to anything further than being just friends - says it would impede our life missions. She is involved in a Pentecostal church which she loves and feels strongly the presence of Jesus.

  • @WingedPaladinLight ... I don't really know what to say to this, but it sounds fascinating and very interesting. Thank you for sharing with me and everyone. All the best to you in your life! ~ Tonya

  • I'm so sorry that you have felt so targeted by the gospel of the LDS church. I for my part, always thought of you and your family with love and friendship. I have known you for many years and if I have ever contributed to this "lack of understanding" then I apologize with all my heart. We are all human after all. My hope is that one day when you have let go of your anger and tried forgiveness, you can remember the good things about your past and the people who were a part of it.

  • @mortonlalo ... Thank you for your kind words. You haven't contributed anything negative, the LDS teachings and homophobia have (and thankfully for me, it didn't get to the major depression and suicidal level it does get to for so many others). You are and always have been wonderful and loving (as has your family) and I love you dearly. I had a wonderful past full of super and special people. Some still are a part of my present, and you are a 'present' to me. ~ Love, Tonya

  • You are a very brave and courageous lady. Your talk was so genuine and moving.

  • @Tonyamama1974 Studies have shown that homophobes can sometiems be afraid of their feelings and are having some from of "reaction formation" an attempt to hide their real feelings...not saying this is true about your dad per se, but it would explain why he "understands"... if you know what I mean.
