Watched Man on the Moon last night. This song was perfect on the soundtrack :)

I was just pushing an elephant up the stairs, when I decided to stop and listen to this song...

That quote was from historian and playwright Friedrich Schiller. It was also used as the title of a Hugo award winning novel by the late great Isaac Asimov. In my case, I was suggesting how true it really is that when you try to open some person to the possibility of something they haven't seen, you run the risk of beating a dead horse. But the effort may YET not fall on deaf ears. That's why YouTube comments are good. SOMEBODY else (perhaps even you) may read same, be intrigued to seek meaning.

Man On The Moon specifically referenced Andy in its lyrics and can't be entirely understood otherwise, whereas Great Beyond' lyrics make no such direct relationship to the comedian, and need not necessarily be limited to his memory. In other words, Man On The Moon WAS intended to be for Andy. Great Beyond goes BEYOND being attached to any one person, movie, and is also one of R.E.M.'s great (if not greatest) songs, is therefore a MORE significant event on its OWN merit than promoting some movie.
