@joffeloff All the v8 diesels are crossplane. They sound the way they do based on head design, and displacement. The number of valves, head flow, and size of the engine makes a big difference on sound. 7.3s sound very different than a 6.6 duramax if you have been around them alot. I go to truck pulls all the time and i can tell you what kind of truck is pulling and what engine is has just by hearing it.

wat yr is the truck ?
-
it's like he is milkin the bong but with tired and a truck xD

@454sskilla Not all of them do, only the 6.0. The 7.3s and 6.7s mostly just sound the same way the Duramaxes do.
Normally the rumble sound of a V8 is caused by a crossplane vs. a flatplane crankshaft, but I have a hard time believing the 7.3s and the Duramaxes have flatplane cranks. I'm gonna guess it's got something to do with either injection timing or the exhaust manifolds. :/
