Designed and constructed in 1936-1937, the First Herbert and Katherine Jacobs House is located in Westmorland, Madison, Wisconsin.
This Frank Lloyd Wright designed house is the purest and most famous application of Wright's Usonian designs.
(1992)Katherine Jacobs visits the current owner of this house, James Dennis, and is joined by Benjamin Dombar original supervising apprentice architect at the time of construction. Famous Japanese Architect Raku Endo, also appears in the video.
The spider & Bee's have since been eliminated.
I lived nearby in a James Dresser house and walked past jacobs I almost every day. One must see the inside of this home to fully appreciate it. They oocasionally have a day of allowed visitors but not often enough.

The Rosenbaum House in Florence, Alabama is another fine example of Wright's Usonian style - the city restored it to it's original condition and it looks great.

Absolutely wonderful! Mrs. Jacobs is very charming and has very vivid recollections, a very classy lady. Mr Dombar seems to recall the construction as if it was yesterday. All Wright fans are grateful to have this masterpiece restored and lived in as Mr Wright intended.
