This is Part I of a two part video series that was taped during a Combat Focus Shooting Instructor Development Course in November, 2011.
In these two videos, Rob Pincus, covers all of the relevant fundamentals of understanding (and teaching) SA/SP to defensive shooters. Rob also addresses some myths and misunderstandings related to shooting with both eyes open and "eye dominance".

  • Bae: I think you're definitely "overthinking" the issue... The person would have to be pretttty far away looking for you with glass to be able to see you better because of your tritium than just 'seeing' you..... Besides, you should be moving through your hypothetical situation with the gun in the high compressed ready, not flagged out in front of you... oh, damn: now you have me Over-thinking it... :-)

  • Looking forward to Part 2.

  • Personally I like the dot-post system. IMO it's fast and precise to align both sights. Dot the "i" press repeat. I find myself hunting around less for good alignment with this system than any other.

  • Night sights advantage should be compared as the balance between aid in sighting vs being a target indicator for the threat you are looking for. As you mentioned, the opportunity to use them successfully & have a positive outcome is VERY small. The opportunity for a threat, who is in your rear 180, to see a moving, glowing dot is much more likely to set up a negative outcome. If he's back there, he's gonna see that dot, meanwhile if you need that glowing dot you are not gonna be able to see him.

  • Can't wait to train with him again. If anyone is contemplating it, do it.

  • thanks for the helpful tips keep up the good work
