St Louis is in striking distance sitting just 3 games behind the Cubs in the loss column and surviving over 2 weeks without their hitting star Albert Pujols in the lineup. You have to feel pretty good about things right now if you are a St Louis Cardinals fan. St Louis will continue to contend as long of the starters continue to pitch as they did in the first half of the season. Mitchell Boggs take the hill for the red birds and the Cardinals are 4-0 behind him in 4 starts this season. They also score runs for the youngster as the Cards have averaged 7 runs scored behind Boggs. Mike Pelfrey has given up 10 earned runs over his last 16 1/3rd innings of work and has had issues with bases on balls. The right-hander allowed 9 walks in his last 2 starts. Teams are batting .303 against Pelfrey and he sits with a high WHIP of 1.65 on the season. WHIP measures walks and hits to innings pitched and high WHIP leads to big innings against pitchers. The Cardinals offense is coming around with Big Albert back and with some games under his belt. Play St Louis at --130.
