@freedomseaker1 - If you're referring to Jack Benny, his character was not homosexual - he was a vain, pompous pseudo-sophisticated person who acted like he was the end-all and be-all. Homosexual characters back in the day were much more "fruity" (to use your term) and would have been more despised than JB's character was.

Not only Mel Blanc but a young Richard Decon,

This episode is actually from 1960. I have it on DVD, and the year at the end is MCMLX, which is the Roman Numeral for 1960. No matter what year, this is the funniest episode of the show I've ever seen! :D

16:55 Blanc's scream gets me every time.

I love how the usually stoic Benny starts to crack up at 21:20 XD

What a FRUIT this guy was...........

$40 for a wallet in 1957 would be like $250 today :P

@AndrewGilmore1986 My mother and I do too, she's not as big a fan of it as I am but it is funny and by this time it's a tradition for us.

My parents and I watch this every Christmas Eve. Just isn't Christmas without it.

Great video, classic all the way!
When Mel Blanc screamed "Now What!" I could hear Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck in his voice yelling. So good to see the face behind the voice of memorable Looney Tunes characters

Actually, this is the later filmed version of the episode (this print uses the 1963-'64 opening title), originally telecast on December 18, 1960. The "Christmas Shopping" episodes were a staple of Jack's radio program virtually every year, from 1946 through '54. This is a distillation of several of them, with the "1948" finish.
