Thank heavens the race ended when it did because Merlene's form went out of the window in the last 50 or so meters and Gwen Torrence + Marie Jose Perec were definitely closing.

And also it´s funny how these 2 commentators completely ignore Privalova, when the heavy weights for this race were precisely Gwen, Irina and Marlene, and the french Perec [the latter they did mention once though]. Take a closer look when they out the turn Irina and Devers are in fact fighting for the 2nd place in the same position. Torrence did not surpass Irina until the last 30-40 meters.

Irina Privalova took bronze, but i have to say that for some reason i find her one of the most interesting sprinters; watch her sprint style, her legs in motion, its even sexy -and very powerful, take a look at her hair flying as if riding a car. :))

Yeah but you are also counting the 80's races for torrence . A period where she hadn't reach her highest level yet whereas Ottey already had ( 6 years seperate the 2 of them). Their first race was in 85 torrence was 19 and ottey 25 , its obvious ottey won!

If u (76auth) know so much about this case, then u would know that Ottey's lawyer brought it to IAAF, it was the IAAF side that used the wrong formula in it's retesting, and couldn't correct it in time. The lawyer used the defense that nandrolone was produced naturally by the body, which at the time a British doctor who was looking into the Lindford Christie case was checking out. That is why retesting was ordered by the judge.
