  • Hope you had another nice long break, Sunteam_Paul. So there were a few A's that you missed. Adventure Quiz really has some fantastice Super CD-ROM2. Then again, it's hard to expect anything less from Capcom (with the exception of 1943 Kai, a bit).

  • A lot of music in this game is chip generated, but I couldn't get clean recordings of it which is a shame.

  • WHAAAAT? Then that must mean that it is a special format of music (CD music that uses a part of the processor to generate sound, forgot the acronymic name). If this contains unclear recordings of the music and it sounds so nice, think of how amazing it would sound if they were clean recordings!

  • You misunderstand. The game uses both CD tracks and normal chip generated music. The CD tracks are those here but the pure chip music I could not record as there were sound effects and speech samples playing over the top of them.

  • Oh, I see now. That's too bad you couldn't get the chip music, but I'm now curious of what it sounds like. There is a special format of music that the CD uses part of the processor to generate sound that I read about on the PCEngineFX boards. I'll have to refer to that later if I want to remember the name.

  • I think you mean ADPCM.

  • Yea, it is ADPCM. The proper definition for it, according to SuperPCEngineGrafx/Black Tiger, is that it's recorded sound that utilizes a chip in the CD-ROM hardware. I think it's a little different from what I was thinking, but it's been a while since I visited the PCEngineFX forums, anyway.

  • Ah, that's probably what it is. Thanks for telling me, but I'll still go check it out later.
