The Gum Drops (aka The Ray Allen Trio),recorded in 1958.This is the B Side, and I think much better. It has a catchy beat.Flip side is "Gum Drop Shoes And Bells In Her Hair".
The Ray Allen Trio started recording for King Records in 1954, and "Why Should I Love You / Love Me Love" King 1383 was there first release. The personal were "Ray Allen (Guitar), Frank Rey (Bass) and Harold Stone (Piano). They had very good success with there first two records, and released a total of three on King. In 1955 they changed there name to The Gum Drops (at the request of Syd Nathan owner of King Records) and release there first single "Gum Drop / Don't Take It So Hard" King 1496.The group consisted of "Ray Allen, Frank Rey, Harold Stone and Vinnie Bell (Guitar), all were from New York. These four singers are in photos I have of the Gum Drops. There was a change in members sometime after "Gum Drop" was released in 1955, due to the fact that on (King 4963 "Natural Born Lovers" 4th record 1956) the names appear as Ray Allen, Harold Stone and Joe Nicoletti on the lable. I have not been able to figure out if Joe became a member prior to 1956, but it is possible. I will update when I know. I read that a singer by the name of Frank Dinapoli (Elmont N.Y.),recorded with with the Grum Drops, Ray Allen Trio and Vinnie Bell at various times. Could this be Frank Rey.? I do not know if there were any more changes after Joe was added. Hopefully someone has that information, and it also would be nice to hear from one of the members of the group. There last release was as the Ray Allen Trio on the Joy record label. Updates when available.

@georgeg1946 Correction! After listening with my headphones - it is The Ray Allen Trio, Ray Allen, Harold Stone on piano and Joe Nicoletti on bass. I believe Vinnie Bell is also on guitar.

@georgeg1946 Yes it is the Ray Allen Trio as listed under info, and I have finally updated the information to the extent that I know. In one picture of the Gum Drops, it has Harold on piano, Ray Allen and Vinni Bell on guitar and Frank Rey on Bass.Joe was not a member then. He joined later, but he is on this record, along with Harold and Ray Allen, but not Vinnie Bell from what I have found out. There were many changes at various times, and I'm still working on it.Thank you for dropping by.
