Democracy Now! Special: Robert F. Kennedy's Life and Legacy 40 Years After His Assassination
Forty years ago today, on June 5, 1968, Robert F. Kennedy had just won the California Democratic primary, a major boost in his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination. Just after midnight, Kennedy addressed supporters at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, in what would be the last moments of his life.
Today, we spend the hour playing excerpts of rare Robert F. Kennedy speeches and the new documentary RFK Must Die: The Assassination of Bobby Kennedy. We also play a never-before broadcast address by Kennedy speaking to students at St. Lawrence University in Canton in 1966 and the man who recorded it. We also speak with journalist John Pilger who covered Kennedy's campaign and was with him when he was shot, and we speak with labor organizer Dolores Huerta, co-founder of the United Farm Workers of America, whose cause Kennedy championed.
[includes rush transcript]
Not until 1968 did RFK vehemently became against Vietnam. They are showing the recording from 1966 and talking about his involvement with the Kennedy administration that wanted the escalation of Vietnam war. I think that RFK was not so much in favour of that either, but JFK was.
Now, should we go back to what one said earlier (1966) or should we consider what one said later after rethinking the approach. I respect John Pilger and his tremendous work.

Seeing this made me think of the music of the time. And the posted music video, "40 Years of History In 3 minutes" is a backward / forward journey through historic events, all to the The Beatles' GET BACK and GLASS ONION, stopping along the way for The Beatles' live rooftop performance and rare Apple studio footage. Enjoy.

true but i also think he would want justice in his murder. he always was one to do the right thing when he worked in the justice dept. so i think he would have prosecuted anyone involved in his murder. it really was terrible that he was killed though because he was the last one left to change anything good for the future

I don't think that Bobby would have wanted us to remember the way that he died, and endlessly dissect it. He would have wanted us to remember the way that he lived
