A legendary live performance by a masterful toubadour. This is a rare acoustic version of Joe Ely's Carnival Bum performed at the Harry Ransom Center in Austin, Texas during his one man theater show entitled Bonfire of Roadmaps.
Been watching Joe since 1978 - Soap Creek Saloon. Seen him 50 times here at Gruene hall. Don't remeber this song. I don't remember alot of things. Good song.
This is great...but does anyone know of a clip of Joe's 2 greatest ( to me anyway) songs...Honkeytonk Masquerade & She never spoke Spanish to me....They were on You Tube a while ago ..but I can't find 'em!
I've never heard this song before, gave me goose bumps. Been a fan since the early 80s. Going to see him in Calgary next month.

Thanks for the upload. And God bless Joe Ely! I've been a fan since '81, and I can't begin to describe the joy that his music has given me.
