Too bad none of us had Flip HD cams back in those days. I was there too by Turn 1 and I saw it all happen in front of me. Would have made a sweet upload. All my pics are of the immediate aftermath of the crash. 2 GB SD cards weren't so cheap then for me to take both pics and movies, so all I had were pics in a 512 MB card :(

@H3Forge but theres something about watching cars go around corners faster than any other car car in the world, just keeps me excited even though the cars might not be as close to each other like they are in other sports. but its personal opinion again.

@H3Forge i do agree the closing laps of any motorsport are amazing to watch. especially nascar and indycar where all the cars are the same spec. so its extreamly close through all the laps. it takes tremendous skill to drive a fragile car so fast with so many other cars inches way from you. i enjoy watching the first 40-60 laps and the last 50 laps of nascar, so i do enjoy the action, but i personally find how long the races are a little rednundant. but thats my personal opinion.

My mind has changed over the past years haha. I actually like Formula One now, and now notice it as the Pinnacle of Motorsports. Although I still do love NASCAR with a passion, I can respect F1 now, and the passing in NASCAR can be exciting, especially the last few laps when the drivers start to get aggresive!

@H3Forge okay but watching cars go around a circle gets a little redundant after the.. oh lets say 400th lap... f1 is the highest form of motorsport. while nascar takes skill to drive so close to cars far that long, but the passing is a little boring sense their full throttle for 3/4s of the lap and only turning left..

From what I hear in this video is cheering for the start of the race and the first turn as well as part of the second turn; the cheering in the second turn stopped once Heidfeld began flipping, then you hear a bunch of "oh's" in a verbal retaliation to the circumstances of that crash. It's pretty simple to hear, turn up your volume if you have to hear better-nobody was actually cheering for the carnage...
-
the person you hear mostly is my friend....we drove 12 hours and no sleep just to see this race....BELIEVE ME, he DOES NOT CHEER FOR CRASHING! Check your facts dickhead

We are all entitled to our own opinion. If you like nascar better thats fine. I generally prefer f1 but I like any form of motorsports (including nascar). I think that argueing about which is better is useless.
F1 is completley different then nascar. There is no point in comparing them, they both have their positives and negatives. So anyway.....

Bull shit, NASCAR is all about passing, I am a 16 year old boy who has been watching NASCAR since I was in diapers. I tried to get into F1, but was literally bored to tears with them playing follow the leader the whole race.

@skids101 then how come none of the f1 drivers have won on an oval in nascar? f1 is fixed
why the hell are you cheering when the drivers are crashing?
