My sister and I give our first impressions of Skyward Sword, the new Zelda game for the Wii. How do the motion controls work out, and how does the game as a whole look and feel? Find out right here!

  • I don't think a regular controller would be better than motion controls. Infact it would be way more boring. I mean everything's been done. And sword fighting wouldn't be as good, fast, or accurate with the C stick. No here near.

Motion Controls do have a long way to go in terms of perfecting it's mechanics. But come on this is the first generation of these controls. The traditional controller has had 7 generations to get to where it is now. Motion Controls have had 1. This is great step.

  • @teddybruscie The C stick suggestion was honestly just me brainstorming a solution for folks that don't like the motion control, but as I said in the video - this IS the best motion control I've ever seen in a game. Saying that, I can see motion control being perfected in the future just like you said, and that this game is a great step in showing people how to do it well. It's sort of like how Ocarina of Time and SM64 showed people how to do 3D world navigation. Nintendo shows people how it is.

  • Not only can I not understand people saying the controls are "bad," I also cannot understand anyone saying they "aren't bad." I have finished the third temple now and the controls are fantastic. For combat, flying, and everything else. The best controls in a Zelda yet. Yeah, there are minor issues sometimes, and all you need to do is recenter with the touch of a button. The controls are so fun.

  • @SalvableRuin I'm loving the controls for sure. The delay can get in the way sometimes, and I just fought a boss where the sword raising mechanics were causing me an issue (even if you hold it perfectly straight he sometimes won't on the screen and your strike won't charge). Other than that it is the best motion control I've ever played.

  • You don't need to pick those electric things up. You can knock them around with your sword when they are not electric, and you can carry them with your beetle. WHy would you pick them up if you know they will fry you?

  • @SalvableRuin I absolutely 100% hadn't thought of using my sword to knock them around! You have just enough time to pick them up and roll them, so I thought that was how you were meant to do it. My sister used her sword when she got to that part and said she had a much easier time, though. I just didn't think of it at all! XD

  • @DemonmachinE Hehe. I was the opposite. I just started knocking it around with my sword for fear of being electrocuted :P

  • @Soulgotha On one hand, I agree. I definitely wouldn't want a realistic gritty zelda game. But I think a HD zelda game could be really vibrant and detailed while keeping its cartoon style. This game is definitely beautiful, though, even if it's not "technicallly impressive".

  • @JillpooThree Zelda is awesome!

  • @NintyFanboy64 Thanks. :)
