It's because Carole and those like her have and had true musical talent. The Lady GaGa's and such have to put on the spectacles because they have no real musical talent. Just my opinion.

In all honesty Gaga does have talent just chooses to sell to the crowd more often then not. She is actually a decent pianist and composer.

I think I've found the best singer-songwriter since Carol King here on youtube - check out Phoebe Peek..she's only THIRTEEN! Great guitarist, writes lyrics as beautiful as Paul Simons, just wonderful songs.
