Heather LaGarde led the Saxapahaw Farmers' Market vendors in a MC Hammer-cover flash mob during featured-performer Megafaun's break. What a great idea! And SOOOO appreciated for the time to choreograph this and rehearse with an otherwise unassembled group of wonderful people. This was such a fun night at , with great music, the farmers' market, homing pigeons (? or doves?) released, and a special outdoor viewing of a Paperhand Puppet Intervention movie following the music. Mega-thanks to the LaGardes, the local farmers and artisans, to the performers, and to the community and visitors who make this a quintessential experience of small-town Americana and shared values.
Saxapahaw is such a very cool place, a true village right on the Haw River, full of hometown Americana. This community is located just inside the Alamance County line in NC, ~15 miles W. of Chapel Hill, and just S. off of Hwy 54. Check http://www.rivermillvillage.com/bands07.html .
Megafaun had just returned from a highly successful national tour, and played the final Saturdays at Saxapahaw summer show series for 2009. There were hundreds of people for this final show of the season, and for returning, adopted homeboys, Megafaun. Check http://www.myspace.com/megafaun .
And please pardon the low-quality video. Since this was a flash mob, I didn't know in advance that there would be a reason to re-set my camera to a higher quality. -Hope those of you looking for some video of this enjoy it!
Heather, thanks for organizing this. It was too much fun... so any ideas for how to end next year?
