@artydean2 Yeah, they're somewhat exciting, but I have heard that about hundreds of players over the years, it's too early to judge an academy just because some players look 'exciting'. I say the same thing to United fans who rave about our academy as well.

2009 was only 2 years ago (that's when Zidane said it), and that was the year Messi led Barca to the treble scoring 38 goals and making 18. 2009 he won the Ballon d'Or, '08 he was 2nd. Gerrard has never won the Ballon d'Or, or finished 2nd.

@MrBlack1968 Granted buyt if you where impartial you would see Liverpool have recently got some of the most exciting youngsters in the world just like utd have, i hate utd but im not hateing on there academy because im a liverpool fan because quiet frankly thats stupid...... liverpool and utd have produced the most english national players in the world so there both good. @artydean2 People often make stupid comments in interviews though. Steven Gerrard said that Joe Cole is better than Lionel Messi, Zinedine Zidane said that Gerrard was better than Ronaldo and Messi in 2009.

Fact is, you don't know how good an academy is until a few years after it's produced some players, and Guardiola (who isn't involved in youth development) making a comment like he did doesn't really mean anything,
