@thomasboss01 I'm talking about crashes here, flight 30 landed safely with no injuries. It's extremely hard for an airline to not have any incidents, it happens a lot. Luckily for Qantas, the pilots of flight 30 were extremely skilled and actually won an international award. Had this happened to an airline like Thai Airways, there may not of been the same outcome.

There are things that can and are done to help minimize the chance of a crash, but if it flies it can crash.
Qantas has also had some incidents. They are not 100% incident free. Flight 30 is one that comes to mind.
-
@thomasboss01 You cannot prevent a crash? That's bull shit. The Singapore Airlines crash was due to lack of comunication and pilot error, nothing else. Qantas is still safer, as they haven't had a crash in operational jet airline history.
-
@thomasboss01 to crashes, they can (and unfortunately probably will sooner or later) happen.
-
Crashes happen. They are tragic, but that have and will happen. They are something you cannot prevent. Just because an airline has a single crash doesn't mean they are not safe.
Almost EVERY major airline has had a crash.
I never said Singapore's safety record is better than Qantas' (it's not) but you are saying that Singapore Airlines is unsafe because they have had ONE crash and that Qantas is safe because they have never had a crash. Qantas is not immune
-
@thomasboss01 Please explain how an airline that has had a horrible crash in the past 10 years is the same as an airline that hasn't had a crash since 1951.
-
1 crash in 40 years (with majority survivors) is a GREAT safety record, Singapore Airlines is EXTREMELY safe. Very very few airlines have 0 crashes. It wasn't even entirely Singapore's fault for the incident.
Qantas also has a great safety record, but Qantas at anytime could crash, they are just as safe or un safe as other airlines.
-
@thomasboss01 So what? 159 passengers, 71 serious injuries and 83 deaths. Don't even think Qantas' crashes before the jet age are anywhere near as bad as this, aviation was basic back then, they didn't have nearly as many safety regulations. Qantas was also doing dangerous runs into Asia on behalf of the Allied Forces during WWII, they lost a majority of aircraft during that period.

If you consider 1 crash a horrible safety record, how bad do you consider China Airlines or Korean Air? (although to be fair they have both greatly improved)
I ALWAYS see that HSBC sign in the jetways!
