Several studies including the independent public enquiry commissioned by the Scottish Executive into the case for the M74 extension have shown it to be a waste of money that will solve nothing as far as congestion goes. These studies looked at all the predictions for the future, all the data, and they said no, this is a bad idea. Yet the previous Libdem-Labour Executive pressed ahead anyway! You have to ask yourself, why?

While some road improvements may be neccessary to tackle particular congestion problems that can't be easily solved with better public and/or mass transport, in general the better solution to the problem with the road network is to make it less busy. Adding more and bigger roads only encourages more traffic and solves nothing, long term.

I was put off the Greens in Glasgow though because Councillor Stuart Clay is workshy and furtive. The Party should deselect him.
