Here is an old kit-built Mamod probably dating from the 1980's. I bought it secondhand to make a quick video and have had a major stuggle with it. It is now running OK, but I have had more than a little difficulty getting it to run slowly! It has a Summerlands Chuffer fitted, as well as a replacement, high pressure boiler, PPS cylinders and a meths burner. It needs a gas burner as well as a tidy up, but here you can see it running (often a bit too fast) on the Summerlands Light Railway.

  • mine went too fast and came straight off the tracks

  • @TheJacko6910 - Ah yes, the usual Mamod problem! This was the only video I got at a decent speed - most was at take off velocity ;-)

  • Well you can't blame it for wanting to get the slate there as quickly as possible! Lovely sound...

  • @DebenValleyLightRail - Thanks Zach - but if you think that is quick, you should see all the footage on the cutting room floor (or the Apple equivalent)! I agree though - the sound makes it worth all the effort ;-)

    Cheers
