The Derek Trucks Band Live at The New Daisy Theater (Beale Street-Memphis) Saturday Feb. 21 2009. Here's a great version of Leaving Trunk highlighted by some incredible work on the keyboards from Kofi Burbridge.

  • so how did mike mattison wind up in a soft cast?

  • Good Question. Not really sure.

  • haha! great video! i'm getting a laugh out of myself right now, that's me rocking out on the front row. It's good to hear Kofi's solo's, I couldn't hear him at all when I was that close, I had to put my ear down by the monitor...

  • You had the best seat in the house! We showed up 5 min. before the show, slammed a couple of pale ales and found a spot near the soundboard. Everybody was cool and they let me slide up front for a couple of video clips. Not bad for a $100 Sony Cybershot.

  • dude i was playing on this stage just a few weeks before at the Memphis IBC. Great venue, awesome band of course

  • I heard he fell off stage somewhere.

  • Steve.., nice shootin' Bro! Lean to the right..., shoot to the left as the good cowboys always do. Great lighting on this one as well. Sound very good too. Must be great live. Keep'em comin'

  • yeah the sound you got is good too!

  • yeah jack is awesome.

  • Seeing Derek play live, then watching a Jack Pearson vid I figured out why it sounds like cats mating when I try to play slide. There are some Jack Pearson videos on the Tube where he explains how important it is to have a light touch. Use the fingers, no pick. Jack Pearson played with the Allman Brothers back when Derek was still pretty young, and before Warren Haynes was in the band too . He is incredible. Look him up.

  • Steve, I was trolling some of my guitar sites. I know, imagine right? There is one that is giving away an Epiphone version of Derek's SG with their new album. I entered the contest. Video sounds even better on the Tube than it did on your puter. Wish we could have got My Favorite Things recorded too. That would have been the trifecta.
