the Radar dome on the Corsair was used for Night fighting see Black Sheep Squadron Forbiddon Fruit when they introduce Jeb and Samantaht they use the Radar in that episode

You are so right, the F4U-5N was a ground attack version which saw action in Korea and with the french in Indochina.

I see this plane everywhere on You Tube, ThE owner must fly it alot. I see also he has an external fuel tank, for long trips. And on the right wing what appears to be weather radar.

The plane fetured is an F4U-4 Corsair.M Pratt & whitney R280-0 double wap radial engine. Top speed of around 430 MPH, and a service ceiling of about 35,000 ft.
