@lotwyo speaking that way isn't Un-American its what America was built for! Pointing out a problems is American. pointing out that the Constitution is dead as of 12-31-2011 by the NDAA bill make me well informed Human of the Earth. After all we live on a ball in space.

this man 'understands things very well' ... he can set a great example for those who don't, especially in the USA ...

This is offensive to me as it's liberal gobble wobble. Some one has to pay for all these liberal give away. Lets be sensible folks. Big Ben

I liked this talk very much because it resonates with my liberal values, but being an eternal skeptic, I cannot help wondering about two things. It's good to appreciate the world's diversity and others' viewpoints, but is travel really required for that? This could happen for example from reading, talking to people, internet resources like TED talks and so on. It is hard for everyone to travel for a good third of their lives, but that should be no excuse for being ignorant and bigoted.

It's always nice to listen to a warm, caring, intelligent person who is able to listen and learn from other people and other cultures!

Rick is a good travel role model for us all. Learn from others, be open to consider new ideas, travel often.

I like parts of the talk, but not the one in which he speaks in an un-American way, criticizing the countries and putting Muslim countries in a superior position to Western countries.
What do you value in travel?
