Amazing footage of East Creek near Chalk Drive / Chalk Lane rising and washing away lots of cars during Flash Flood in Toowoomba on Monday 10 January 2011. This is some of the best footage I have seen of the Flood and was taken from the second floor of our office which backs onto Chalk Lane.

It shows just how fast the creek turned into a torrent and quickly flooded Chalk Drive and Chalk Lane.

I also got some video of where the creek crosses Neil Street and some video of the aftermath and the huge amount of cars damaged and piled on top of one another in the Chalk Drive car park.

With the incredible exposure that my video is receiving all over the internet and media worldwide I would like to encourage you to donate to the relief appeals.

You can donate to the Queensland Government Appeal at: http://www.qld.gov.au/floods/donate.html

Or the Churches of Christ Care Queensland Flood Appeal here:

Please pray for us. There are many people who are suffering through this.

  • Dear Toowoomba. A year ago myself and many other New Zealanders watched as your town was inundated by a flash flood. We were horrified. Some of us including myself donated money to the relief effort. Some of my colleagues came over and helped with the Civil Defence effort.

Six weeks later my hometown of Christchurch was devastated by a magnitude 6.3 earthquake just a few kilometres from the central city. Australian police, RAAF aircraft and hundreds of Aussies came to help us.

    THANK YOU.

  • You people with your stupid comments laughing at other peoples losses, how about respect those who died in the flood? You don't see people making stupid comments about 9/11 and the Japan tsunami and even so watching this how could you laugh?! You people are sick!

  • @VelvetWhore Toowooomba isn't in a low-lying area. If YOU had actually looked at a geological map then YOU WOULD SEE THAT.

And speaking of the recent floods in NSW and VIC, are they the same deal? Will it "HAPPEN AGAIN DuH" in these areas?

  • @VelvetWhore You're looking at a city on the top of a MOUNTAIN RANGE. At any rate, this could happen anywhere, as a recent study published in major Australia newspapers proved. But please, Toowoomba was never in a sea bed. Which you'd know if you'd looked at a map.

  • Should we move our cars. Daaaaaah!! People are like lemming or sheep. The need to be directed even for the obvious.

  • at least it cleaned out toowoomba

  • Perhaps because they thought they would get preferential financial and sustenance help from authorities. They cared little that he and his father had just buried his brother and mother?

Shame these mindless monsterous forces of nature have no discretionary powers over just who should have drowned and who should not..hope there is some Karma for those types sometime though.:>(.

  • The story in Twoomba about a mother who drove into the town just as the water came flashing in called police but they ignored her, when a towns man attempted to help ,her son pushed his little brother towards their rescuer saving his life just as he and his mother were washed away in the flood and drowned.

A sad scenario of this followed when the saved brother was harrassed and tormented and bullied by those boys at his school who were jealous of the publicity he and his family recieved.

  • Question to anyone who was in Toowoomba when this happened. How long did it take from the start of the heavy rain to when the creek was back inside its banks? Just trying to get a rough idea of how fast the flood peak passed.

  • @tributestar oh yeah cause the authorities really had no idea there was flooding...i mean the cops cant watch the weather or anything...
