Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Oakland, and Robert Scott, D-Va., said at a Washington, D.C. press conference today that they would introduce a bill that is similar to one they sponsored last year. That bill never got out of committee.
The new bill would add 14 weeks of aid to the first tier of federal extended unemployment benefits. If approved, Tier 1 would provide 34 total weeks of unemployment. Both the current unemployed and the 99ers would be eligible for the extra 14 weeks.

  • And it's being proposed under the exception to the rule of pay as you go...no off set funding. Political grandstanding at the expense of elevating the hopes of the destitute in exchange for political gain against the opposition. That's what this is. That is all this is, with no real sincere genuine intent of assisting those who battle daily to survive. They know this won't fly..it won't even be released to the floor by committee let alone reach a point for vote. Shameful people they are.

  • Republicans will block this, they continue to give billions to big corporations for tax breaks! Thats' where it went. They still use tax payer money to pay companies to send your jobs to China. Then Republican majority leader Mitch McConnell will once again CRY because he was able to give tax breaks to the top 2 % richest people in the country. Leaving us with less money to pay the debt he pretends he is wanting to get make smaller!

  • I agree with you TheAshley94544

  • Do you know why there are less jobs? Corporations outsource most jobs to outside of USA, so that they can pay $1/hour.

99 ers either need ui extension for unlimited time till the unemployment rate goes down, or all the jobs need to bring back to USA. Am i wrong when i say this? What do you think? And thank you 916edwards!!!

  • Geez...
