@nickra60 Apyrase leads to the formation of 2 separate Pi molecules. PPi is slightly different because the 2 phosphates are part of the same molecule. The sulfurylase won't go for individual Pi.

Yah, from what I've read, you add one base pair at a time. If there is not light, you add another base to see if there is light. The extraneous unincorporated nucleotides and ATP are degraded by the apyrase, and the reaction can restart with another nucleotide
