@rumpwrestler. Unfortunately, while I've been to Bayreuth, I wasn't able to see a performance. I've been fortunate to hear recorded performances and Youtube videos from Bayreuth and every Bayreuth performance I've heard was superior. I've been to performances in S.F. and L.A. and they have been spotty--some very good performances and some quite poor.

The end of an era. Germany looses one of its most well known cultural personalities. Wolfgang Wagner passed away on March 21, 2010 in his house in Bayreuth. Wolfgang Wagner headed the legendary opera festival for 57 years until his retirement two years ago. May he rest in peace.
