JOHN MILES
I believe this( ORANGE RECORDS) version of Tim Roses anti war song " Come Away Melinda" the most haunting and spine tingling of all the covers of Tim Roses sensitive sorrowful song. The vocal range, quality, and sound of John's powerful uncanny Voice which builds up through the duration of the song helps us relate to the terrible pain of losing loved ones during the 1st and 2nd world war. God Bless them all.

  • Marvellous !!! I knew John released some songs before Music became his first hit, but never imagined one of them could be so powerful !! Thanks for sharing !

  • @ALEClovesGENIALMUSIC

It is my pleasure to share your most welcome. POWERFUL thats the perfect word for John's voice with this song

  • Come away Melinda is a very emotional song, its about a little girl who is digging in the back garden of her house when she finds a book which contains photos' of her dead Mother who had died in the war. Melinda was to young to remember her mother she asks her Father to come and see her find . This brings all the pain and sufferings back. Her Father will not come out to see as he is so filled with sadness , he asks Melinda to just please come inside and close the door.

  • JOHN MILES Come Away Melinda (Rare 1972 UK 'A' label advance promotional vinyl 7" for the single release, with intact original four prong centre, also featuring Walking With My Head Held High.

  • i was searching for this cover since the late 70's , it was covered by so many artists & bands , but this version was always my favorite , despite the bad audio ! i've found it few month ago !

  • @Grazielulli , I have it on 45 inch single here, with a picture of John Miles smiling, with long hair and a hippie beard... it was brought out in 1972, by Orange records licensed by PYE England. There's a number on it, if it helps... 45pv15374. And no, I ain't selling it, unless you offer 100.000 :-)

God I can't believe it, I was only 6 when it came out and I was and still am totally crazy from it, John Miles was a hero for me long before Music came out....

  • I always thought this was about nuclear war but I love it.

  • I didn't realise John had released anything before his 1976 hit Music. Thanks for posting this gem.

  • Wow-thanks for this jewel!!!!
