At the very least, he clearly displays what psychologists call cognitive dissonance. First proposed by Leon Festinger in his 1956 book 'When Prophecy Fails', it helps to explain why some people follow cults, whacky religions and conspiracy theories, despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. At worst, he's entirely delusional. Unfortunately, the internet serves to give these people a voice in relative safety, as in the outside world they'd be shot down very quickly.
