you dont know how angry pole can get when you'll tell him that poland is a part of eastern europe, even wikipedia and cia factbook say that poland is located in central europe along with germany and austria

Sorry but... I thought that Poland was an Eastern European country because when I studied in my school in Spain , my teachers told me that Poland was an Eastern European country and Spain was a Southern European, even I bought a Lonely Planet book about Eastern European countries in Warsaw and Poland is added like an Eastern European country.......

To be honest this is not the first time that I heard your theory.....

when I was at school (in Poland) long time ago, they taught me that Poland is an Eastern European country. Until this day on the news you can still hear about Poland being an Eastern European country so what is all this fuss about. Is there any shame in being from Eastern Europe?

Poland is located in Central Europe and culturally belongs to Western Europe -> Roman Catholicism, latin alphabet, even width of railways. During the Iron Curtain era 'the well-known West' used to teach at schools that Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary are the East of Europe because they could not admit that they had sold in Yalta part of western culture under the eastarn wing.
