The Central Islip High School Concert Choir under the direction of John Anthony, performs EARTH SONG by Frank Ticheli,at the 5th Annual High School Choral Festival at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College in Flushing, NY.

Sing, Be, Live, See
This dark stormy hour,
the wind, it stirs.
The scorched Earth cries out in vain.

Oh war and power, you blind and blur. The torn heart cries out in pain.

But music and singing have been my refuge,
and music and singing shall be my light.

A light of song, shining strong.
Hallelujah! Hallelujah.

Through darkness and pain and strife,
I'll sing, I'll be, live, see.

Peace.

  • we did this as a Choral/Concert Band piece my junior year of HS...turned out fabulously.

  • LOVE this piece. You guys did a fantastic job. Way to bring it basses and second sopranos, and everyone!

  • this song gives me hope. simple as that

  • comfort and happiness. This means that, when ever we run into bad and gloomy times, we will sing. This song. my favorite.

P.S. My choir sang this too. :)

  • What makes me think of this song is the tragic moment of 9/11. The reason is that "Sing, Be, Live, See / This dark stormy hour, / The wind, it stirs. / The scorched Earth cries out in vain". This section is when the North Tower was hit. "Oh war and power, you blind and blur. The torn heart cries out in pain". This makes me think that the plane was just a blur (first one). "But music and singing have been my refuge, / and music and singing shall be my light." This is what some people went to for

  • Simplemente MARAVILLOSO ! :)

  • is simply amazing! omg is amazing!!

  • I love this song, our chamber ensemble sang it last year:)

  • omg ! 1:38 when the sopranos held that note. its amoazing, ive yet to hear a choir actually get that right. beyond amazing !

  • im not in choir. im in band. but this is amazing!!!
