One of my most favorite visitors in the spring and summer is the Louisiana Water thrush. Their distinctive "pumping tail" as they walk along is what sets them apart from all other birds, with the exception of the phoebe, which pump their tails as they sit on branches. These little birds are very friendly in that if you just sit quietly as they go about their job, they will get quite close to you and get use to you to the point they won't flee very quickly when you enter their territory. I love their little pink legs and feet, which are very thin and delicate. I can sit for hours watching them.
