The Galloway Hills are a fine collection of summits within a compact area. These are awesome hills, remote and elusive, rewarding determined walkers with breathtaking views of extensive moorland, shimmering lonely hill lochs, silvery burns and gushing waterfalls, deep glens and imposing rock outcrops. Fascinating rock features like The Grey Man of Merrick to the south-west of Loch Enoch and The Deil's Bowling Green on Craignaw are hidden among these stunning hills. One rarely has to share this amazing landscape steeped in history with anybody else

  • Beautiful. I remember cycling/mountain biking often there as a teenager in the late 1980´s. Me and friends biked right along the top of the Rhinns of Kells, sometimes to Back hill o´bush, up the Merrick, through The door of Cairnsmore and other rides, Loch Dee bothie and Curliwee to Newton Stewart, fighting midges and through dense bog and thick forest with our bikes, actually adapted normal racing/touring bikes and staying at the bothies. Thanks for the images.
