If you are bronze, silver, or gold, try this training drill. It allows you to demonstrate to yourself just how important your macro is, compared to silly little things like positioning, micro, unit composition, scouting, harassment, etc etc.

You can easily get into the gold league just doing this over and over, but that is not the point, the point is to see how powerful you can be JUST by focusing on scv/command center production, and then imagine how much more powerful you can be by making minor adjustments to the build. Once you are gold league you might want to add just 1 scv on gas slowly working his way toward 1/1/combat shields, nothing fast, nothing drastic... and if you start losing games, go back to the core, scvs, supply depots, and command centers. thats what it all flows from. what you build is nowhere near as important as how much of it you can afford to build.

Pew pew.
Remember, each new CC you build, causes your scv production rate to increase, that means it takes you 6 minutes to saturate 1 base, but only 4 more minutes to saturate the second one, and so on... so scv benchmarks look like this:

6min = 24 (CC!)
10min = 44 (CC!)
14min = 70 (CC!)
16min = 90 (CC!)
OK OK STOP NOW!

with 5 CCs, if you lose every single scv at a base, you can float the CC somewhere else, and re-macro all 22 scvs at once (just set the new rally point, and hold down 'S', bam 20 scvs insta-q'd at the 4 non-floating CCs) hi, i can make a base in 2.5 seconds, how are you?

in general, dont ever attack until he does. macro to 90 scvs, 110 marines, then throw down 20-30 more rax... then get a CC at every base, spread your scvs thinly btw them while your army waits outside his 2nd base for him to realize it's over. If you eventually have 200u and 10k minerals, you can attack, because re-building 110 marines costs 5k minerals :) while you attack, select your 40 rax, and hold down the 'a' button :) pretend to be zerg. gg.

oh ya and as a side note: if u ever wanted to have 1000 apm in a ladder game... do this build, then each time you have a spair moment, hold down 'a' til your out of cash, then hold down 'escape' til your raxes are empty, and repeat :P for some stupid ass reason, blizz counts holding 1 key down as 1000 apm.
