@oldbriggsengines It still doesn't seem very safe, expecially when the gas tank takes up the whole bottom and could arch against something on the ground, but yea your right it's not attached to the cylinder area.

@MrTpengineer The gastank/ base on these engines is atached to the oil pan witch doesnt get hot, only the cylender part of the block, the muffler valves piston and head on these engines get hot. and even if the gastank was atached to one of those parts it wouldnt catch fire, as gas in liquid for catches fire around 300 degrees ferinhight and these engines very rarely if ever reach 200 degrees. Sparks, and open flames are much more likely to catch cas on fire than heat alone.

I got a clean red Pioneer Engine with a belt clutch, oil bath air filter, round gas tank any idea what year it is ? the block is cast iron and a glass fuel bowl.

Who would build it wioth a gas tank attached to an hot engine?! Oh well, they didn't know the danger back then, no lie.

@Dillon1791 Gas tank is the base, you can see the cap in the beginning of the video just below the generator portion.
