This is an entirely community-driven project.
These are videos of me, a person blind from birth, playing through Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, with the help of five Zelda fans on YouTube who have put a very generous amount of time and dedication into writing very specific, script-stile directions that have allowed me to navigate through the game.
Thanks to Runnerguy2489 for his help with this segment.
I got really lucky in this fight, when the 2nd team of jellyfish attacked I actually stunned him on my first boomerang throw and took very little damage throughout the fight. I've never done this well before.

Boss Strategy:

This may be tough to explain. I wish Runnerguy2489 all the best of luck when he has to beat this thing blindfolded for the first time, on camera, sitting with his back to his speakers (cant wait to hear it, buddy, but you might consider some headphones or some other arrangement so you can hear things in front of you). Anyways, Z-Target the tentacle when Navi flies to it. Push up and to the left or right for a second or two (depending on which side you hear him on, though this is often centered for me), and throw the rang while still pushing up. As the boomerang flies to Barinade, run or sidehop away so you dont get hit.
After one hit youll lose your target. When you hear a sound similar to what you heard when you hit the parasite tentacles earlier, stand still for a moment and wait for the target lost sound to play, then target again (if you cant you might have to move a little in the direction in which you hear him in order to target).
There are 2 more tentacles, so repeat all of the steps twice more.
Now, target him again. If his sound is not already perfectly centered (equally loud on both speakers), move a little in the direction in which you hear him the loudest to correct your position and center the sound. While still Z-Targeting, throw the boomerang again. Usually youll hit it, but if you dont, just run away from him (if the sound is getting louder it means hes approaching you for an attack), and then try to stun him again.
Run ahead after stunning him, and start swinging your sword. If you hear a jellyfish get hit, start counting in your head as you continue swinging. As soon as you hear the 5th jellyfish die, quickly sidehop away (or run to the side) in hopes of avoiding a hit (which I sometimes still take).
For stage 3, your target from earlier will stay on. You want to run around a lot, so most of his lightening bolts miss. The idea is to get the sound centered again, but not super loud (if its super loud that usually means youre about to crash into him). Run away if this happens, but when you center his sound, throw the rang and then start running. If you get him, thats great, but the hard parts next. Target one of the jellyfish, and then quickly run several steps to the side (he shoots a lightening bolt while hes stunned which will hit you and interrupt your next attacks if you dont dodge it. After this lightening bolt has come and gone (and missed, hopefully), you can stand still, draw your slingshot and shoot the targeted jellyfish. Immediately press Z to target the next one, and shoot again. If youre fast enough, youll hit all 5 before he recovers, if not target him and try to stun him again (this time itll be easier, since there are fewer jellyfish, so a greater opening to hit him).
The last stage is actually easier if you let him damage you. Theres a time when hes invulnerable, and theres a time when you can hit him. Hes pretty quiet when hes invulnerable (except for the constant lightening bolts), but when hes vulnerable youll hear him spinning pretty loud.
You can either run around and hope to avoid attacks until hes vulnerable, or take one hit and hell become vulnerable right away. Either way, center his spinning sound and throw the rang. If you succeeded youll hear that hes stunned, run up and start swinging your sword (if youre worried about your position being off, untarget and retarget him before trying the sword).
He wont die on this first round of attack, but 2 more of these sequences should knock him out.

Ruto, all youve done is made it really hard for me to navigate inside your Gods stomach (cant sidehop or back flip with ruto), and now you want to merry me? I dont think so; Ill just edit out your cut scene!

  • That trick with z-targeting that switch (to get to barinade) is pure genius.

It's crazy how blind accessible these bosses are.

  • Those switches are odd, most switches in the game can't be Z-Targeted. Though I think that method is widely used.

  • I concur. I mean, you got a blind guy beating OOT, with only 139 views, and then you'll have the next Weezy so-called "song" (aka crap) that'll get like 10 million views in a week.

  • you deserve WAY more views like WAY MORE!!

  • Woah! You defeated Barinade faster than me! That's really impressive!

I can't do that fight as fast as you with my sight!
