I hear that every night on the way home from my friends house and he lives right down the street from me and we both live in Prospect KY Oldham county. Do you live near here because if you do I would like to see it.

@sgtfhrn Thank's for the info on the identification. I am definately into these horn's for the hobby, but I am also a railroad man and I am into the history of them as well. It is a shame to see the railroad's junk these older horn's for new nathan's. I was at our cumberland locomotive facilities and it was sad to see older 3 chime's in the recycling bin
very interesting mine has the spike backs on it I wondered hold old it was I am assumeing from the 70s or earlier possibly it has a wonderfull sound to it like off old ATSF horns its not in Santa Fe yellow though its painted black

@gaycowboy31 The spike back power chambers (RS chambers) first started appearing in early 1979, however a lot of older horns were retrofitted with spike backs when they were rebuilt. A lot of RRs used Leslie 3 chimes back in the day so it's hard to say what RR yours could have come from.

@sgtfhrn it is neat to try and figure out which railroad was the trueowner of these horn's. I have a set of spike back Leslie RS3's. I stripped paint away to find it was actually conrail, I stripped some more and it went down to reading railroad green. Iwonder if these were one of retrofitted Leslie's.

@CSXtrackworker I'm not too familiar with eastern roads, but if it was indeed a former Reading horn rebuilt with RS heads, it would most likely have a date stamp on it and a tag indicating that it was originally an "S" horn, ie "S3LR" rather than "RS3LR". A lot of collectors could care less where the horn came from. They're into the hobby for the horns themselves, not necessarily the history of the horns. I on the other hand like to know as much about the history of a horn whenever possible.
