A 6 volt Klaxon Horn from the early 1900's. It's been repainted with a dent or two on the cone, but it is really good shape. Classic sound which is a real head turner. PLEASE NOTE that I am only using a lantern battery folks...thus the sound is a little strained and not a true representation.

UPDATE: Ok I need to clarify in order to stop all of the arguing and emails I am still getting to this day. I made this video so that I could sell the horn, which I did to a happy enthusiast. Now, how I shot the video seems to be the source of all the confusion. I wanted to show the horn up close so potential buyers can view it. But there is no way that I could do this and actually activate the horn at this close proximity and get the sound with completely distorting the sound in the video. So I took the horn out to a field and set the camera to record about 40 feet away. I was leaning in the car window and connecting the the terminal of the battery to the horn to generate the sound. I had to do this because when the horn was outside of the car it was still distorting the audio. I took this audio and merged it with the footage you see here. I could have done this on my front porch where I shot the video, but this horn freaking LOUD and it was a Sunday evening and didn't want to disturb the neighborhood. Incidentally, this was summertime when I shot this and the sun doesn't set until almost 11 pm. So I hope this settles the arguments and emails...lol.

  • hey kinda old video i know but how much did you sell this horn for? I have the $60 remake klaxon model (the red plastic one) and am interested in one of these, wondering prices ranges.

  • @Stingray7667 it was so long ago I can't remember. But I have heard the plastic one's and feel they are not the same sound quality. But these can be hard to come by. I wish the sound quality of the video was better because this horn was actually quite loud. As I mentioned on an earlier post, I actually recorded the horn from a distance and overlaid the sound on the video. The original sound was completely distorted because the horn was so close to the camera. Good luck!

  • is it for sale???

  • @seviane already sold it, sorry!

  • How does this video get 89,099 views? Wow...interesting.

  • @XxWaterDancerxX LOL... Honestly ... I have no idea!

  • These horns use a motor-driven toothed wheel which ratchets against a metal stud attached to a diaphragm. After all those years, either the wheel or the stud are probably worn to nothing. Replace them and it will probably be much louder.
