Footage shot from a DRIVE Basketball training session held at DRIVE Fitness in Richmond, B.C.
Players are Rising Freshmen (Grade 8s).
This is an excellent drill to work on ball handling under intense defensive pressure.
The Off Player must try to stay in the circle for 30 seconds, the object is to try to not turn your back and keep your head up.
After 30 seconds the coach yells "live" and the players play one on one to the basket.
The Def player is encouraged to get physical and make the offensive player work, both players should be very tired after the 30 seconds, so it is a good conditioning drill also.
Off Players are encouraged to use the hop back crossover, between the legs and around the back.
Off Players can go by the player any time to relieve pressure as long as they try to stay in the circle.

The whole point is maintaining ball control. if you pass or shoot every time someone defends you you might as well be a terrible QB in football at least you dont have to dribble lol

stop dancing with the ball and pass it or shoot it. it shouldn't take 70 dribbles to get past one defender. bad drill :(
